Continuous manufacturing technical ceramics for catalyst support

Technical interests of the continuous process mixer:

  • Resists abrasion thanks to a controlled rotation speed
  • Allows for very difficult mixtures
  • Allows for very viscous dough mixtures (several million centipoise) with adequate dispersion and homogenization quality
  • Performs the continuous process and is part of a lean manufacturing logic (producing from A to Z without interruption)
  • Perfectly guarantees the proportions defined in advance of the formula

Switching to a continuous line is very beneficial to the customer.

Indeed, our continuous industrial mixer has a very good cost / production rate performance, spare parts wear out less quickly than competing technologies, which represents a substantial saving for users, while being energy efficient.

Case Study. Mixing and kneading for supporting catalysts

The processing business unit has been an activity taken over by HASLER Group in 2012 with the acquisition of RPA Process, a company with more than 50 years of experience in this field.
The case began almost 13 years ago in the south of France: a French company, established internationally in the petrochemical sector, is looking for new equipment capable of guaranteeing a certain production capacity. The aim of the company was to acquire mixing equipment for supporting catalysts. As a first step, the company will lease a UCP 125 from HASLER Group, which will gradually be accompanied by an order for a UCP, after validation of the interest of the equipment for the company.

Upstream, several mixing tests had been carried out in the laboratory to verify the efficiency of the machine. The goal then was to set up a complete flow line, which would be combined with an extruder for final shaping. In this project, HASLER GROUP participates in the manufacture of the ceramic part for the catalyst support and ensures the preparation of alumina-based mixture, area of expertise of HASLER GROUP.

HASLER Group has been able to provide equipment with the desired capacity, good yield, good mixing quality, while maintaining low maintenance and operating costs, all in continuous mixing. The productivity of the plant was therefore improved thanks to this new machine.

*UCP = Ultimate Continuous Processor
The UCP is a continuous mixer that has the advantage of mixing very viscous mixes with a slow speed, no pressure and management of the residence time to obtain the ideal dough.
