BÜCHNER TEST : MANUFACTURERS LOOKING FOR A VACUUM FILTRATION SOLUTION NEED TO SECURE THEIR PROJECT

For this, HASLER Group provides its customers with filtration tests, known under the name of “04”.

Vacuum filtration is a rapid industrial filtration test technique for separating a solid from a liquid. It is the filter placed in the bottom of the Büchner funnel that separates them. The solid (filtration residue), which remains in the top of the Büchner funnel, is then recovered more efficiently: it is much drier than during simple filtration. The water flowing through the water pump sucks the air contained in the guard flask and in the vacuum flask. Thus there is a pressure difference between the outside and the inside of the flasks: the contents of the Büchner test funnel are sucked into the vacuum flask. The filter placed in the bottom of the Büchner test funnel separates the solid from the liquid.

Filtration test generally takes place at the end of the synthesis and can be accompanied by washing if it is desired to recover a pure solid.

This filtration test is typically used to estimate a filter filtration capacity for industrial vacuum applications. It can also be used to establish the optimum amount of reagents that are required for belt filtration, however in this case allowance should be made for the compressibility factor.

Size your liquid / solid separation process using filtration tests

With our database which contains the results of liquid / solid separation tests performed for many years, we have the skills to help our customers to size their liquid / solid separation equipment optimally.

Laboratory tests are carried out at each of the projects, providing a vast source of information available from the initial phase of the test. Several types of cloth can be used depending on the material to be filtered. There are three types of filter cloths according to:

  • weaving (mono-filament, multi-filament, double layer)
  • of the material used (polypropylene, polyamide, polyester).
